Executive Editor, The (Syracuse, N.Y.) Post-Standard

Michael J. Connor has spent his entire 36-year journalism career at The Post-Standard. He started in 1976 as a bureau reporter based in Oneida, and later transferred to Syracuse and worked through a series of reporting and editing positions.He became managing editor in 1983. In 1988-89, he took a leave of absence for a sabbatical as a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University. Four years after returning to the newsroom, he was named executive editor. He has won top state AP awards for editorial writing.When the morning Post-Standard and the evening Herald-Journal merged in 1997, Connor became executive editor of the combined news operation.

He has served on numerous boards of directors for non-profit arts, cultural and philanthropic organizations in Syracuse, and has served as a literacy volunteer and a hospice residence volunteer.
