Robert Steele G’73
Professor, DePauw University

Robert Steele is a distinguished professor of journalism ethics and director of the Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics at DePauw University.He spent nearly 20 years on the faculty of The Poynter Institute, and he still serves in an affiliate role as the Nelson Poynter Scholar for Journalism Values.

Steele has been a consultant on ethics standards and practices for dozens of news organizations. For the past year, he has guided the process of evaluating and rewriting the NPR News Code of Ethics. He also advises journalists and media leaders on real-time ethical challenges.

He is a graduate of the Newhouse School.
