David Newhouse has led the newsroom of The Patriot-News, a 66,000-daily circulation newspaper in the Harrisburg, Pa. metro area, since 2001. Under his leadership, the paper’s affiliate website, PennLive.com, has become the leading news website in central Pennsylvania. It is also a worldwide source of news on the Jerry Sandusky scandal and other regional stories, with 20 million unique visitors last year from all 50 states and 223 foreign countries.
Newhouse was recently honored with the 2011 Benjamin C. Bradlee Award as Editor of the Year for breaking and continuing to cover the Penn State University story.

The Patriot-News was named by the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association as Newspaper of the Year in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2010, and received top honors in the state’s Keystone Press Awards in 2004, 2006 and 2010. It is the smallest of Pennsylvania’s seven Division I papers, judged against those in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. The newspaper won national First Amendment and public service awards from the Associated Press Managing Editors in 2007, and was named as one of Editor & Publisher’s “10 That Do It Right” in 2004.

Newhouse was previously assistant managing editor of the Trenton (N.J.) Times.
